Things are finally starting to look up for me. Remember my first post, “Seeking Opportunity?” Well I haven’t stopped. I am currently on a flight to Colorado Springs to attend a recruiting event. A lot of people probably think I’m crazy, and hey maybe I am. I mean it’s not everyday that you hop on a plane and fly across the ocean to attend an event that’s not even an interview. Then again, it’s like an interview. I have never been to a recruiting event before, but I do know you have to dress the part, bring your resume, and talk with an agent from their company... sounds a lot like an interview to me. I’m doing this because it’s for a career I want. Living across the Pacific Ocean makes it a little more challenging and expensive when apply for jobs on the mainland. The way I look at it, I am giving it everything I can and seeking every open opportunity that I can. So when I do finally land that position it will be worth all of the challenges and money on airfare, hotels, and rental cars.
Applying for the career field I want takes a lot of time. When I say a lot of time, I mean months and months. I am still waiting to hear something from a couple agencies, but I finally received some kind of contact with another one. Even though it doesn’t look like I have much of a chance this go around with this agency, the fact I finally spoke to someone made all of the difference. He gave me confidence in myself that I do qualify for the positions I am looking at and that I would make a good candidate for it. That gives me hope. Just speaking with him has boosted my confidence in attending this recruiting event. This is what I mean when I say seek every opportunity. Something will come from the work you put in and the motivation you have to be who you want to be.
